Every summer, Aspeq welcomes interns from University programmes around the country. They are paid to work on meaningful projects that are equally valuable to Aspeq and to the students as they take the first step in their careers. Our 2024-5 interns share their reflections on their time at Aspeq:
Sean Holmes
Sean is putting his computer science degree to use exploring how AI can be applied to improving Aspeq’s processes, and working on a SharePoint redesign project. Nick says Sean is a rare mix of extremely knowledgeable and equally curious - he knows exactly what questions to ask to get the job done right. Nick has been struck by Sean’s friendly and approachable manner, which makes him a great culture fit at Aspeq.
What you're studying and what interests you about it
I have just finished my Bachelor of Computer Science and will be graduating in the new year. What interests me about my degree is what I've been learning about how we realise and identify problems, and how we can create innovative solutions to solve them.
Why were you keen to join Aspeq’s intern programme?
I wanted to join the team at Aspeq because I wanted the opportunity to work in a collaborative space and put some of the skills that I have learned into practice, while getting the experience of working with other professionals in my area.
What are you enjoying most about your time at Aspeq?
I'm enjoying the opportunity to be creative and innovative in my role.
What would you like to do in your future career, and how will this internship support that?
I would like to get into the area of software development, and I believe this internship is, and will continue to help me get more experience in and around the area of development and help me to understand the applications of my skills and what parts of my education I can explore.
