Cebu, Philippines, October 2024 — Aspeq was honoured to join Civil Aviation New Zealand (CAANZ) at the 59th Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for the Asia and Pacific regions. Organised by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), the event took place in Cebu, drawing over 310 delegates from 37 countries and 11 international organisations.
Strategic Engagements and New Connections
Aspeq's key objective at the conference was to facilitate direct introductions between clients and Sally Morrison, Head of Client Services, and Shani Bennik, Business Development Manager, led by Mike Lynskey. The team enjoyed the in-person setting, engaging with stakeholders from various aviation authorities and organisations across the region.
"This conference provided an invaluable opportunity to connect face-to-face with our clients and partners," said Sally Morrison. "Meeting with stakeholders was a fantastic opportunity for us to build stronger relationships, gather insights, and discuss the ways we can better serve their needs in the evolving aviation landscape."
Key Highlights from the Conference
The DGCA Conference featured discussions on a range of pivotal themes shaping the aviation industry, including:
- Aviation Safety and Security: Strengthening safety protocols and security measures across the Asia-Pacific region.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Commitment to reducing carbon emissions and advancing sustainable aviation practices.
- Technological Advancements: Exploring the integration of artificial intelligence and digital technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Inclusivity and Workforce Diversity: Promoting diversity within the aviation sector to address workforce challenges.
- Regional Collaboration: Enhancing cooperation among member states to address common challenges and streamline air transport services.
Fostering Partnerships and Exploring Opportunities
In collaboration with CAANZ, Aspeq hosted a ‘Pacific Function’, bringing together representatives from various aviation bodies based or working in the Pacific.
The conference's formal dinners also facilitated deeper conversations with colleagues from CASA and the Australian Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, and the Arts. These discussions not only provided insights into the evolving needs of clients but also laid the groundwork for potential new partnerships.
Looking Ahead
At the DGCA Conference, ICAO reiterated its 2023-2025 strategic goals, focusing on enhancing global aviation safety, advancing navigation efficiency, strengthening security, promoting economic development, and driving environmental sustainability. For Aspeq, these goals reinforced the critical role of delivering aviation exams of the highest quality to support the industry’s progress.
Sally Morrison summed up the experience, stating, "The DGCA Conference was a great platform for us to showcase our commitment to quality and innovation in aviation services. It was encouraging to see the shared vision for safety, sustainability, and technological progress among our partners, and we are excited about the future possibilities these discussions have opened up."
Aspeq's participation at the conference marks another step forward in its mission to deliver secure, efficient, and innovative solutions for the global aviation industry.
Aspeq want to thank the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and the Governor of Cebu for hosting us in their beautiful Province.
