Aspeq Celebrates Jack’s Inspiring Journey on TVNZ's 'Unbreakable'
Aspeq had the privilege of being part of Jack's fantastic story featured in TVNZ's series 'Unbreakable.' The docuseries, described on TVNZ’s website as "featuring a cast of twelve Kiwis with disabilities as they shoot for the moon. Their ambitions are huge, but so are the obstacles," is made with the support of NZ on Air.
Four years ago, Jack lost his license during a routine medical check, which discovered he had late-onset Type One Diabetes. After years of determination and perseverance, Jack now has a second shot at his dream. Thanks to advancements in technology and careful monitoring and some restrictions required by CAANZ (Civil Aviation Authority New Zealand), Jack was able to continue pursuing his passion for aviation. He has now become the first person in NZ to receive a flight instructor rating while living with Type One Diabetes.
The series features Aspeq Flight Examiner, the late Brendon Bourne, who assessed Jack for his Instructor rating. After 320 flying hours, Jack was able to sit for this assessment, and Brendon was impressed with his mannerisms and understanding. Listening to Jack talk about his love for flying, it's hard to imagine him doing anything else.
Aspeq is thrilled to see Jack’s future take flight and is keen to follow his continued adventures in aviation. It was a great opportunity to be a part of this NZ series, and it is even more special to see our late colleague and friend Brendon on screen, serving as a poignant reminder of the impact he had on many lives.
Catch Jack’s story on TVNZ+ or TVNZ1, 8.30pm from Tuesday 10 September.
