Celebrating Women in Aviation: Aspeq Proud to Support NZAWA Rally

Jul 9, 2025

Backing the next generation of wāhine aviators

Aspeq was proud to support this year’s NZ Association of Women in Aviation (NZAWA) Rally, a much-anticipated annual event that brings together women from across the country (and beyond) to compete, connect, and celebrate their achievements in aviation.

Held at North Shore Aerodrome, the rally welcomed over 120 attendees from all corners of Aotearoa and Australia. Despite some wild winter weather, the weekend was filled with flying competitions, inspiring kōrero, and strong community spirit. The rally wrapped up with a Sunday night Presentation Dinner, where Aspeq’s Marketing and Communications Lead, Amie Cripps, had the honour of awarding our aviation scholarships to three exceptional wāhine: Stephanie Redepenning, Karen Dalldorf, and Abbey Palmer.

“It was an honour to attend the NZAWA Presentation Dinner and present Aspeq’s scholarships to such inspiring women,” says Amie. “Hearing about their experiences over the weekend, the challenges they faced, and their aspirations for the future was truly motivating. I’m proud that Aspeq continues to support initiatives like this, helping to grow the number of women pursuing careers in aviation.”

One of this year’s scholarship recipients, Stephanie Redepenning, is currently instructing with North Otago Aero Club, gaining hours and experience while studying towards her B Category instructor rating.

Simone Boult, NZAWA President, shared:

“I first met Stephanie in 2021 when she was a student at Nelson Aviation College in Motueka and have been impressed with her dedication and achievements over the years.”

Simone also extended her thanks to Aspeq:

“Thank you to Amie for joining us at the Presentation Dinner and to Aspeq for your generous scholarships. Your support and partnership play a key role in encouraging and empowering our members — and we look forward to this continuing well into the future.”

From rally flying to scholarship success stories, the NZAWA weekend was a powerful reminder of the strength, talent, and potential of women in aviation.

We're already looking ahead to 2026, when the rally heads to Bridge Pa in Hawke’s Bay — and we can’t wait to continue backing wāhine as they take flight.
