Aspeq are pleased to acknowledge the newest A Category helicopter flight instructor in the country, with Iain MacMartin from Advanced Flight Ltd. in Auckland, having recently completed his ground and flight tests over two days with our examiner Mark Watson. Iain was the recipient of an Aspeq A Cat Scholarship.
The pathway to A Cat is one of experience, application and dedication on the part of all candidates, however it is a qualification that not very many helicopter pilots achieve due to the rather more diverse commercial operating environments that most of them work in. There are fewer dedicated helicopter training establishments than aeroplane, so most pilots do not get continuous instructional experience flight time to consolidate their teaching skills like their fixed wing counterparts do.
This flight test is one of the hardest that any pilot will every fly and is the pinnacle of their achievement as a flight instructor. All credit to Iain on this successful attainment of professional excellence.
