Introducing Aspeq's new Chief Executive

Jun 8, 2022

The team at Aspeq are very excited to welcome our new Chief Executive

Hamish Findlay.

In March we were privileged to welcome our new Chief Executive, Hamish Findlay to the team at Aspeq. Hamish brings 20 years of senior leadership experience specialising in international business and commercialisation, along with extensive experience in the development and implementation of organisational strategy, executive leadership, crisis management, and governance.

Before joining Aspeq, Hamish was the General Manager Commercialisation, at Wellington UniVentures, leading a team who managed all aspects of commercialisation, including disclosure, project development, and portfolio management.

When asked what attracted him to Aspeq, Hamish said "I had contact with Aspeq when I was in a previous role. I thought that Aspeq was a reputable global company, with exceptional services and products to offer, and that they had done a superb job at international commercialisation".  In the coming months, he is looking forward to “meeting our clients and understanding their vision for their organisations, and how we at Aspeq can assist them.”

Hamish believes the future for Aspeq is bright and has set some lofty goals for our future, however he has realistic expectations of what can be accomplished and intends to include the wider team in the decision-making process, so that he may utilise the wealth of experience and knowledge within the organisation.

As a proponent of an inclusive leadership style, Hamish prides himself on being approachable and strives to bring people along for the journey. He is inspired by other people, especially when, "they do things slightly differently to achieve excellence and get the job done”. He believes that compassion is a hugely important aspect of leadership and has stated that he is “enthusiastic about living and driving Aspeq’s values, especially those with an emphasis on our people”. Since joining Aspeq Hamish has "been exceptionally impressed with the culture and calibre of the people at Aspeq, and their commitment and drive for what they do. "

Hamish has three children and when not at work, his life revolves around them. He enjoys the outdoors, especially gardening and fishing, however unfortunately he doesn’t get as much time to escape to the wilderness as once did, since his children are now his main priority.

With Hamish at the helm as our new Chief Executive, we are coming out of what has been a challenging and tumultuous period over the past two years with everyone in our organisation looking forward to the future of Aspeq and its continued success.
