Aspeq at the Aviation Industry Association Training and Development Committee Meeting

Aspeq’s team showcased their expertise at the Aviation Industry Association (AIANZ) Training and Development Committee meeting in Auckland. Representing Aspeq were Hamish, Paul, Gordon, and Duncan, who were thrilled to participate in a day of insightful discussions alongside attendees from a wide range of aviation sectors.

Paul and Duncan took centre stage, delivering engaging presentations on flight testing and assessment services. Their sessions provided valuable insights into Aspeq’s capabilities and ongoing innovations, highlighting the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality, customer-focused services.

Tackling Industry Challenges

The meeting also provided an opportunity to address some of the challenges ahead for the flight testing and assessment services teams. Key topics included:

  • Embedding new flight testing processes to enhance accuracy and reliability.
  • Preparing for exam changes under the upcoming Civil Aviation Act, set to take effect in early 2025.
  • Conducting an end-to-end review of the Aviation Language Proficiency Test.
  • Introducing new consolidated Aircraft Engineering exams for overseas licence holders.

 

Showcasing Assessment Services

Duncan’s presentation on "Assessment Services Introduction" offered a deep dive into the processes and people behind Aspeq’s success in exam development and management. He highlighted the robust structure of the Assessment Services team, which includes:

  • Assessment Coordinators and a Technical Lead.
  • Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Trained professionals holding relevant licences, supported by comprehensive training and mentorship.
  • Non-Technical Experts: Editors and proofreaders ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • A Statistician: Providing data-driven insights to maintain exam validity.

 

The team’s systematic approach ensures that exams are valid, reliable, and fair. Key quality processes include:

  • Alignment with CAA NZ syllabi.
  • Use of standard question banks, blueprints, and templates.
  • Performance monitoring through robust workflows and feedback mechanisms.
